LSS has great pleasure in presenting \u2018Wedding Album\u2019 Girish Karnad\u2019s latest play on the shenanigans around a wedding which is a fine comedy of our times.<\/p>\n

The name of Girish Karnad is popular all over India and has created somewhat of a trend among theatre groups in various languages, the most being English. A group is not considered serious unless it has done at least one Karnad\u2019s play.<\/p>\n

This Girish Karnad\u2019s contemporary play, is a wonderfully insightful and comic tale that is modern, relevant and revealing about the India that we live in today. It explores the traditional Indian Wedding in a globalized , technologically advanced India. <\/p>\n

On the surface it\u2019s a familiar a picture \u2013 a joyful event when members of the clan come together to celebrate and reaffirm loyalties, but behind the picture perfect smiles, simmer long suppressed suspicions, jealousies, frustrations and aggression.<\/p>\n

The play deals with a normal urban middle \u2013 class family: a daughter who lives abroad with her professional husband, a brother who is a software designer, a younger daughter happy enough to marry a suitable boy from the US she has never met, and then, of course, there is the doting mother and the loyal cook. A family, which is educated, liberal, and modern. But beneath the familiar surface of a joyful wedding simmer the undisclosed secrets of the characters and their lives.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a hilarious spectacle. And hopefully, both revealing and moving.<\/p>\n

Play is produced by The Primetime Theatre Co and directed by Ms. Lillete Dubey. Cast includes Utkarsh Mazumdar, Smita Jayakar, lra Dubey, Pravishi Das, Satchit Puranik, Amar & Armaan Sunny.<\/p>\n

Set & Lights designed by Mr. Bhola Sharma who has been involved in Art Direction, Set Design and Lighting design since 1982.<\/p>\n

Sound & Backstage by Mr. Inaayat Sami who is versatile personality and almost all major plays have his input.<\/p>\n
