As a lyricist tool, javed Akhtar has achived unparalleled auccess and at present he is the most respected songwriter in India.<\/p>\n<p>Javed Akhtar belongs to a family whose lineage can be traced back to seven generations of writers. Son of the famous progressive poet jan Nisar Akhtar and writer Safia Akhtar and nephew of Majaz, he has himself carved out a niche among the modern urdu poets. His collection of urdu poetry is titled \u201c tarkash\u201d and has been translated into bangali, Gujrati, kannada and English.
